snowball run 2010

on the weekend i joined the nzpc team for a road trip down to taupo for the snowball run 2010. earlier this year, we competed in the canonball run (the summer version), which i have to say i preferred due to the warmer weather and lack of rain!

rain and cold aside, it didn't stop me getting up at 6am to join the snowballers and check out the awesome cars - and outfits! we took down falgoon patel's WRX, the ex-jdm 5zigen demo car, for the ride...

check this VW! just shows you don't have to spend big (or even anything?) to have style... love it!

the new wheels for the bB?

custom painted BBS rims don't just look rad on bB’s, (although that would still be my personal favourite), people seem to be whamming them on everything from their crappy old honda to their brand new porsche. browsing through various car forums - being the nerd that i’ve become - i cant help but notice them popping up all over the place. how cool is it that people paint them to match their car colour scheme? check these out:

can you guess what colour i want?

obsession #2

i f*cking love 350z's.

unlike my obsession with cars shaped like toasters, i don't actually own one of these… yet. every time i see one drive past on the street i can't help but turn my head – usually this results in me driving into the other lane by accident and having a blonde moment so that can be a little embarrassing. needless to say, a nissan 350z is TOTALLY on my wish list at the moment. i’m all like ‘mum can you buy me this car for my christmas and birthday present?’ and she’s all like “haha, not this time darling but i’ll buy you a lotto ticket”. dammit, was worth a try.

i still can’t help but have a serious appreciation for these cars, soooo sexy and look soooo awesome with good fitment (obviously).

jealous.

grrr.

grrrrrrrrrrr.

obsession #1

i can’t deny my total obsession with the toyota bB. and yes, i know that the majority of people find the car absolutely ridiculous looking. i however, (along with a large group of others i might add), think it’s totally rad.

a while ago i found myself sitting with $9k in the bank and hopelessly searching on trade me. my previous car had been written off and i had no idea what i was going to buy. to my boyfriends utter horror, i explained to him that i just couldn’t imagine a car more perfect than my old VW beetle with its pink gerbera! i wanted something different, something that suited my personality but was also going to be practical. and that’s when i came across the toyota bB.

also known as the scion xB, these cars are crazy square and despite being quite a small car, they have so much space inside. i think the thing that really caught my attention is that people seem to go nuts with modifying these things to the point of obsession, and i wanted to see what all of the fuss was about! i know that a lot of people don’t understand, but i can’t really explain why it’s so addictive. perhaps something to do with how awesome these cars look when they’re stanced out, so sick.

i’ve already come to terms with the fact that my bB probably won’t ever look as good as some of these. but this car has sparked something inside of me that i never knew could ever exist - a passion for cars, who would have guessed huh?

take me there... please?

wheel fitment and ham sandwiches

i love many things... but over the past year i guess you could say my list of 'interests' has changed quite drastically. you don't need to tell me - i'm already aware of it and quite frankly, i like it. i'm the same person, but what if the things i like have changed a little bit? i mean, my boyfriend is the editor of performance car so i was always going to end up liking cars. they are shiny and go fast and i get excited. so what if next month i go and blow all my paycheck on the next thing i want to do to my new car? it makes me happy so i don't care. i might be living off homemade sandwiches for a few weeks because i spent all my money on new wheels, but god they look great!

what i don't understand is how people can't appreciate this shit:

flush wheel fitment is SICK!!!!!

as you can see, my personal project is coming along quite nicely. i'm pretty proud to say that this car is mine, i mean, i know it isn't anything super extraordinary, but when i step back and look at it i really feel like i've really achieved something. there are still a lot of improvements to be made - and that's the part i'm looking forward to the most.

watch this space :)
