a few cars that make me go 'fark yeah!'
a while ago i was having a moan about the lack of new content on sites such as hellaflush and stanceworks. lately however, they have totally redeemed themselves with a regular flow of new super rad posts.
check out this stanced hard-top convertible with matching bike...

photo from hellaflush.com
i'm not a huge bmw fan, but i absolutely love seeing people doing shit that's different from the rest. you don't get much more original than having a roof-rack on a convertible! it's also on air-bags fyi...
another car i think is f*ckn rad is fatlace founder mark arcenal's flush porshe. it seems other people are catching onto this trend now - this super slammed 911 is frickin low. i love the paintjob and somehow the tucked fitment works too.

photos by james macauley.
everyone's seen this car around before. i thought it looked super rad before...

the owner, mike burroughs from stanceworks has recently given the e28 a makeover.

oh, shit. complete with roof chop, gold plated wheels, even lower ride height and crazy 17×9/17×11 -10 stance, this thing is just absolutely insane...

photos from stanceworks.com
haha, this guy pretty much takes everything you shouldn't do to a car, and makes it look f*cking bad ass.
cars like this make me feel super inspired to do cool shit to my car. THANK-YOU beloved stance bibles, keep the good stuff coming!!!!

weekend roadtrip
last week pedey got his hands on a 2011 sti to review for the magazine, and yesterday we decided to take it up north for a little test drive. good fun...

on the way we spotted an abandoned block of factories in helensville, which made for an awesome location for a quick photoshoot. it was pretty eerie, the place was huge and glass was still strewn everywhere - but it looked wicked in the shots...

i couldn't quite decide whether i was fond of the subaru's new shape, it seemed like the boot was perhaps too small compared to the rest of the body of the car? despite the new design (still 10x cooler than my car haha) the car handled incredibly well on the road and it was smooth sailing on to whangarei.

my parents own a beautiful property in the whangarei heads, overlooking the whangarei harbour and mount mania. it was bizarre waking up this morning to this sight, i actually couldn't remember the last time i'd seen a full blue sky due to the seemingly never-ending rain and cloud cover in auckland over the last few months.

today we made the most of the sun and it was so amazing being able to walk around in a singlet all day and not get goosebumps. we also made an effort to hang out with all of mums 'pets' - check out the baby ducklings, so cute! we also had to say goodbye to the donkeys who were going to new home today :(

watch out for pedey's full review of the sti in the next issue of performance car magazine. in the mean time, check out the november issue which hits stores tomorrow!

yummo!
i'm pretty sure every other girl went through their 'cupcake obsession' stage when they were 15. i think i'm a late bloomer in this department...

how CUTE are these!!!! the cupcake in the top right corner reminds me of the birthday cakes mum used to make. i'm no psychic or anything but i feel like i can predict baking happening in the near future. roof-top tea party anyone? :)

married to… my camera.
okay, so a few people gave me shit about a previous post on wedding images that i liked. come on guys, it wasn’t a hint at a person, but rather a hint at something else i'm passionate about, which is of course wedding photography.
my love for photography blossomed at high school where once thrown into the darkroom, i was captivated by every aspect of photography and was soon putting all my energy and time into the subject. my first assignment was a total success and after achieving excellence in every project that year, i received a scholarship award in recognition of my efforts! i think this was what gave me the extra push i needed, the extra confidence to believe in myself and take it to the next level.

during my 7th form year, a local photographer offered me work experience at her studio. i ended up leaving school and for the next 3 years of my life, i worked for her and gained invaluable experience as a photographer. looking back on it, i had some of the best times of my life.
although looking at my finished photographs was probably the most satisfying part of my job, the fun part was actually going to shoot locations. shooting million dollar properties around the country, hanging out of a helicopter with three cameras around my neck, being carted down the side of a cliff by a truck winch to a private beach, having endless coffee drinking competitions with my boss… these are some of my best memories!

i will never forget the first wedding i went along to when i was working as an assistant. i remember being nervous, which is rather ridiculous, but i had never actually been to a wedding before! i hadn’t met the bride before either, and it was an unusual feeling being welcomed into her hotel room where her and her family were sharing such intimate moments before the ceremony together.
i have been to at least 30 weddings now, (i think?) but i only ever felt a lump in my throat at the first one i went to. after that it was all business, and i soon had my calendar filled with bookings for weddings everywhere from the beautiful whangarei heads to kaitaia. here are some of my favourite images...

i love photographing people, delicate details and beautiful landscapes,
and wedding photography allows me to combine all of these - i also love how there is so much room to be creative and express my own personal style through my images. it's such a personal and special role to play in the part of a wedding, and i love everything about it.

if you're planning a wedding and looking for a photographer in the upper north island, i still work freelance and charge at a very competitive rate :) please don't hesitate to get in contact and i can get some more info out to you. if you're looking for wedding ideas, these websites are amazing:

while on the subject of photography, a HUGE thank-you to my models tess and my sister nicole, who not only helped me recieve awards in nzipp and kodak competitions, but inspired me and helped me to become the photographer (and person) i am today. you are both so beautiful. <3

*HF* spacers
after stanceworks started making their signature coilovers, i knew it would only be a matter of time until fatlace brought out something similar!!!

the hellaflush branded spacers* come in 15, 20, and 25mm sizes and are going to be available for purchase through the fatlace website soon. interesting...
*for those of you not up with stance speak, spacers are metal disks that sit between your wheel and the hub to make your wheels stick out further from your guards. i currently have 20mm spacers on my back wheels :)

serious?
lamborghini wheels on a vw golf??? dead serious...

you might have seen a few shots of this car in the illest section of the latest performance car mag. it certainly caught my attention! not only would these wheels be worth a bazillion times more than the car itself, but have you seen how flush they are? best part about it - the car is owned by a girl! awesome...

september update
the nights are getting warmer, and with summer around the corner, pedey and i are gradually heaving ourselves out of our snugly winter couple-cave where we have been hibernating for the last few months. as well as slaving over the latest issues of pcar, pedey has been working on getting the impala in tip-top condition, with the help of grant and the guys at gt refinishers. they’ve done an amazing job so far and a shitload of progress has been made, which is incredibly exciting…

photo from pedeyworld
at the moment, the car is just about ready to get her new paint-job – a gorgeous pale, silvery shade of gold. the other night we sat down and eventually narrowed our options down to about 30 different shades – who knew there would be that many shades of gold, seriously! it was a tough choice, but we knew exactly what we wanted and we got there in the end. the impala’s new shoes have also just arrived in the country, but i haven’t seen them in person yet. all i know is that they’re negative offset, so of course they get my approval. as for suspension, that’s going to have to stay a surprise. you’ll have to stay tuned to find out!
unfortunately, due to all the fuss and commotion over the beloved fastback, my little black baby has not been receiving much attention lately. with a broken alternator bearing, he sounds a little worse for wear and is in urgent need of some tlc. thankfully, saint patrick has made time to get him into the workshop this week, so hopefully he’ll be feeling better by the weekend. i plan to give him a big wash and get the polish out – he definitely deserves a little makeover. if he’s good he might even get some new stickers!!! (just to clarify here, i'm talking about washing the car, not patrick. i'm not sure if patrick would be very happy if i hosed him down and put some stanceworks stickers on his head!)
with all my fussing over bbs rs rims and how i want pink ones so badly, someone suggested that i could just paint the centres of my old school rims instead. i’ve been tossing this idea around for a while now, and i still honestly can’t decide what to do. so far i’ve been taking votes…

sorry about the lazy photoshopping. i would love any feedback about this so please feel free to let me know your opinions!
as for my bmx project, well… it’s pretty much still sitting in pieces in the garage. i have, however, recently acquired a pair of cute pale pink oury grips and a pink chain! check it out…

i would just like to express how excited i am that summer is nearly here - various pool parties (including corona and bbq consumption) on our roof/deck, the completion of both mine and pedey’s cars, the impala’s first road trip down to martinborough for new years, getting my yakima roof-rack, christmas in canterbury, the bB’s first car competition, 4 and rotary events, entering a team in the cannonball run, the big day out, beach hop in whangamata, and hopefully another crazy birthday party on matakana island are some of the things i’ve got to look forward to on my calendar!
i have an amazing feeling about this summer, so expect to see coverage here on my blog on all of the above! and with so many car events coming up, i’m looking forward to being able to post some sicko nz cars on here as opposed to cars i like from the internet - i’ll be that tall girl following pedey around with a camera!

to finish things off, check out the cover of the latest no limits magazine - out now! free when you buy any demon energy drink:
