GOODBYE 2010 :'(

is anyone else as excited as i am to be on christmas holidays? tomorrow i'm heading off for a well deserved break until the 10th of january, so it's time to give my eyes a rest from the computer and get some much needed sunshine - if you see me on facebook make sure you tell me off!!!

i think it's fair to say that 2010 has been the best year of my life so far. not only have i moved in with the man of my dreams and have secured a fantastic new job, i've also found a new hobby that i'm really passionate about, which has inspired me to start this blog. i love that i can combine my two passions, the other being photography, into one creative project.

since i'm in such a good mood today i thought i would share a few things that have really made me happy this week:



angry birds cupcakes. self explanatory.



one of my best friends is a florist and she was nice enough to give me this beautiful bouquet of my favourite flowers yesterday - hydrangeas, lillies and pink roses ♥



my RnV ticket arrived courtesy of demon energy (THANKS GUYS!!!) and i also got some westfield vouchers, yay!



unfortunately i bought these shoes before i got the vouchers! mmm they are so pretty.



i got home and a case of russian standard vodka was sitting on the doorstep. SWEET!



i don't really go behind our house (there are waaaay too many spiders back there...) but i'm really glad that i did the other day. i found a beautiful flowering hydrangea plant with the most amazing purple flowers. so pretty ♥



today i recieved a package from my best friend in perth, she bought me this cute pink tea-cup set. i love it so much, thanks suzie!

rotiform - bad ass!

i'd never heard of the name 'rotiform' until i saw a photoshoot of this bagged audi on blue NUEs a few months ago. the name stuck in my head, and i've started noticing them everywhere ever since.



i'm in love with the BLQ wheels...

i've seen a few beetles sitting on them and i totally love overall look - especially with the wheels tucked in slightly at the back. not usually my favourite kind of fitment but for some reason it really appeals to me - probably because i'm crazy obsessed with beetles. what do you guys think of my vision?! lol!

micra gets stanced!

i mentioned in a previous post how i love nissan micras (known as the nissan march here in nz), they are the weirdest little bubble cars but i've always had a soft spot for them - especially the pink ones! it made me smile seeing this cute stanced out micra on hellaflush the other day, how cool does it look!

is it love? or just another bmw...

yesterday i had another almost-crash-bB-whilst-perving-at-another-car moment. this is a pretty normal thing to happen to me, (i am a blonde you know), but what surprised me was that it wasn’t an s2000 or 350z i was oggling – and no it wasn’t the reflection of my own car in a shop window either! why was i perving at a bmw? and why did it look so cool?

i’ve always slightly fancied the look of z3 convertibles but never thought too much about them because i’m not generally a huge euro fan, especially after my former daily driver literally fell to pieces. however, yesterday i found myself having such a big gawk at this sexy beige z4 with black soft-top on black 18’s that i nearly crashed into the national bank. not sure the bank would be happy about that happening a second time… but let’s not go there.

the z4 is the successor of the z3 and was first produced in 2003. i’d never really taken any notice of either cars until now, but i’m really loving the look of the z4 – and what intrigues me the most is that there’s a very limited amount of them on the internet that are super slammed with good fitment.



this black z4 is pretty rad but i’m not a fan of the wheels – does have good fitment though.





the hard-top really kills the shape of the car for me, unlike the s2000 which i feel looks even better with a hard-top as opposed to the rag-top. my question is, are there any other flush z4s around, and if so, can someone show me? i think they have the potential to look pretty sick as a stanced out convertible!

online makeover!

haha sorry boys but this is totally a girls only post! i saw this website on a friends facebook page the other day and thought i would try it out, (kind of as a joke at first), and then ended up spending hours on it! taaz.com is an online 'virtual makeover' website that lets you upload photos and then edit them with different make-up, airbrushing effects and even letting you try completely different hairstyles. it's ridiculously addictive once you try it and suprisingly realistic - although i think i may have gone a bit overboard on the airbrush tool!



i want to change my hair now! (i can hear pedey mocking me from the lounge...) girls you should totally try it - it's free!

my partner somehow coerced me into tagging along to watch him ride on the bsx track out at riverheard forest on sunday. not quite sure how he managed to persuade me to hang out with him in the dirt instead of at the sunny beach, but i decided to take my camera along to make the most of it. besides the sweltering heat, it turned out to actually be quite a lot of fun! check out some of my shots...

this car gets props for doing black on black and doing it right. sometimes having black rims on a black car can make the wheels disappear, but the stance on this is just enough to make them stand out.

this white z was seen the venice beach HF meet - loving the work meisters, black accents and subtle bodykit.

at first glance, this car just looks like any ordinary stanced z. take a closer look at the wheels and you'll notice this car is running some seriously aggressive specs. check out the feature here.

this is the only stanced z drop-top i've ever seen and i love it! i've always disliked the 350z convertible as the whole car seems to lose it beautiful shape when you chop the roof off, but i'd never seen one like this until a few months ago. i hate to say it, but it looks full sick! not to mention it gets points for being different.

new zealand's own vick bhatti does us proud with his mint green widebody 350z. at first i wasn't so sure about the new paint job but i have to say that it's grown on me. the car used to be this colour, what do you guys think?

camberd z. this car is pretty much an internet whore - and you can see why. i know it's been criticised for being 'nothing extraordinary' but i have to argue. this z is simple, clean and hellaflush - i don't see anything bad about that? i think i like it better with the gold work vs's on it. have a look here.

i can't remember where i first saw this car but i have a feeling it was featured on hellaflush ages ago. this was the first 350z i'd ever taken notice of and it was love at first sight. sitting on air and on weds kranze rims - i'm pretty sure this is the sexiest Z i've ever laid eyes on!

i love these ridiculous pink jeffrey campbell shoes. i was totally considering buying the cute pink 'foxy wood' heels a few weeks ago but at the end of the day, car had to take priority over shoes! grrrrr why didn't anyone warn me being a car enthusiast was going to be so expensive!

not such a drag after all....

the rumbling felt like it came from the earth, vibrating through the crowd as if there was an angry giant under the ground, shaking through the stand like an earthquake. never before had i been in the presence of such powerful cars, and in that second i completely understood why people wanted to do this.

on the weekend i had my first drag racing experience – and it was freakin amazing! i’ll be honest, i had never seen or understood why drag racing was so awesome. it saddens me to say that i actually thought it sounded kind of lame - sorry speedtech! but on sunday morning i hopped in the stm ute and headed down to fram autolite dragway for the nzpc vs. nzv8 drag combat to see what it was all was about.



there was a wicked collection of cars there; an interesting mixture of classic muscle cars and modified import vehicles. the performance car crew were there in full force too – i’m loving their new t-shirts, check it out…



so cars had to go from start to finish point and see who got the fastest time, what was the big deal? after watching nzpc magazine cover car owners robbie ward in his RB30 dragster and brent curran in his triple turbo 20B powered mazda RX-2 go head to head on the dragstrip i realised that this whole time i had been missing the point completely. it wasn't about getting from a to b, it was how you got there that mattered. these monsters made my toyota bB look and sound like a little black sewing machine.







this studebaker was doing 6 second runs throughout the day and it was just amazing to watch. even sitting in the stands next to the dragway i could feel the power thundering through my whole body and without ear plugs i couldn't even take a picture as i needed both hands to plug my ears. it sounds cheesy but it really made my organs feel a bit funny! the car needs a separate starter motor hooked onto it to even get the car running the engine is that enormous.



my friend vath and i decided this was our favourite car pictured below. this mini was doing 10 seconds and the back wheels took up half the car! so funny!



i love the hellaflush car scene, watching tough drift cars battle it out and love heading along to events and checking out showcars, but until this weekend i'd never experienced anything to do with drag racing and i never realised how awesome it is. the next big drag event coming up will be the 2011 series of the 4 & rotary nationals on the 30th january. if you've never been before i'd seriously recommend going along and checking it out for yourself, i sure will be!
