and reality gets the better of me

okay guys, so i know you have been waiting for the day i post up a picture of my new awesome s2000 or 350z, but i have some bad news - it's just not going to happen, not quite yet anyway. it's a brand new year and i take resolutions very seriously, i think the start of a new year is a great opportunity to reevaluate and make positive changes towards self improvement. the thing is... one of my resolutions this year is to learn to accept that i just can't have everything that i want in life. i'm one of those people that's always dreaming up crazy schemes, exciting ideas and projects and wanting to spend up large on them. before 2011 i found a nice sunny spot down on the beach and had a good hard think about my resolutions, goals and ways i want to improve myself as a person this year, and this is what i came up with.

if you've read my previous posts obsessed again, seriously, how does one do this? and dreams are free, cars aren't, you'll know that i'm super passionate about stanced convertibles and my very serious yearning to own one myself. it's always been my plan to put the bB up for sale after january, and soon it's time for shit to get serious and actually make it happen.

i love s2000s and i want one more than anything, but i've recently come to accept the fact that just because i could go out and buy one, that doesn't mean that i do have to get one. i know that one day i'm going to have a super amazing car, but just not quite yet. as a perfectionist, i've always only ever embarked on projects that i can complete to my full potential or i just don't bother at all - i like everything i do to be my very best work. i've realised that it would be pointless buying the cheapest s2000 in new zealand and putting fake wheels on it - it's just still not going to be my dream car. in conclusion, i figure it'll be worth waiting until i can afford the real thing. it might be in a couple of years time or even 10 or 20 years away, but i've decided that i don't mind.

when i can actually afford it, i'd love to own an s2000 and do some serious work to it. my inspiration...

after explaining my car idea to a close friend - an experienced driver herself, she retorted "well what the f*ck are you going to do with the thing once you have it! your not going to race it, the f*cking thing will just sit in your garage!" it got me thinking and i decided that i do need to improve my skills as a driver in order to enjoy and reap the benefits of owning such a car, and pedey came up with the idea that we should build a cheap track car so i can practice. still wanting to incorporate some style into the car itself, we agreed that an mx5 would be the perfect project.

i'm hoping that i can still make the car look kind of cool on the budget i have, and i've already got a few ideas up my sleeve. i know that quite a few people dislike the mx5 but to be honest, that doesn't bother me because i really like them and i'm excited to get a different car that won't be a daily driver so i can finally achieve the level of ridiculous fitment that i like!!!

i'm really looking forward to gaining skills behind the wheel and embarking on a new project that isn't going to make me poor for the remainder of my 20's. stay posted for some serious progress!
