New shift knob

After the gear knob obsession post I wrote last week, Auto One Manurewa (aka. Mr G's) contacted me via Facebook linking me to the different gear knobs they had in stock on their Trademe store!

They have heaps of shift knobs in different colours and sizes, and they also stock the different adaptors to fit different gear sticks too. I decided that I had to have one.

They hooked up the Miatasaurus with this sweet new pink/lavender swirl shift knob!

It goes with my interior theme nicely - very happy! :)

You can check out their different gear knobs on Trademe here. Thanks Mr. G's!

Pink RWB love!

When I heard about a new pink RWB project in the making I had to find out more! So earlier this week I had a chat with my friend Aaron Mai who kindly put me in touch with a guy named Gary, an auto technician living in Japan who has been working for Rauh-Welt Begriff recently. Here are some of his photos of the car, I am so in love with it...

Baby pink RWB 993 = amazing!

This car will be racing along with four other RWB cars at an Idlers 12-hour enduro race in Motegi over this coming weekend! I wish I could go so bad, argh!!!

Make sure to check out Gary's blog here, which follows his adventures working in the Japanese tuning industry!

Clean slate

Last week I gave my Watanabes to Grant at GT Refinishers to have my babies stripped of their beautiful pink sparkly coat. Thank-you for all your opinions (positive/negative - it's still cool that people care right?) but to be honest I don't know what is going to happen to them next... we will all have to wait and find out!

Since doing the whole pink thing (which I still LOVE!) I've just grown a bit bored of it and I've also seen so many white cars wearing pink wheels now and I just want to do something different. Also there are wheel manufacturers that are selling pink wheels in New Zealand now and to be honest I'm not a fan of these, so I wouldn't want to have a similar look. So there is my reasoning behind the change.

The Miatasaurus has been off the road for a little while now; I found out that I'd ruined my current CVs from having the car sitting at such a low ride height and would have to get them replaced at some stage. Once I've had this done and got the tyres back on the wheels things will be back in business, and I can't wait to show you guys my sweet new goodies from Project-G in America too!

The only downside of having an older model convertible is that in winter it becomes less desirable to drive, but of course that isn't going to make the MX-5 go into complete hibernation mode. I'm definitely looking forward to spring and the annual Jerkfest at Taupo to take the car out on the track once again!

Knob obsession - it's not what you think Mum!

I've been looking at different gear knobs on the internet over the past few weeks as I wanted to buy a new one for my MX-5. There are so many options, but with the regular 'bubble shift' knobs having gaining a lot of popularity I wanted to find something a bit different - especially something not commonly seen here in NZ.

I've always wanted a flower gear knob or 'Suichuuka' (read this post on Noriyaro about the story behind them - really interesting!) but they are quite rare and pretty pricey. Some of them are going for up to $300 on Yahoo Japan at the moment.

So rad.

The multicoloured ones are also really cool but so hard to find - I might have to try and find one next time I visit Japan. It seems like ages away but with the S30 being top priority at the moment, another trip is just going to have to wait until 2013! Sigh...

Another one on Yahoo Japan auctions - so tempted!

I know a few people who are going to love this one, YES it's a Hello Kitty gear knob. Go on, buy it here on Ebay, you know you want to!

What do guys have as your gear knob - and what's the craziest thing you've seen that's been made into a gear stick? I think THIS had to be the most interesting one I've seen.

Japanese decals in new colours!

After posting this picture on Instagram I received so many comments asking for the Japanese decals to be made available for purchase again, so I decided to have some more made up!

The stickers are available for purchase now through the online store so make sure to check them out HERE and grab some while they are in stock! They are available together in sets of two, one of each of the colours shown here. Not sold separately sorry.

Thanks to Lance at Streeter Concepts for printing these - if you are looking at getting stickers printed make sure to hit him up as he is super helpful!

Seats, check!

Apologies for the dodgy ISO iPhone photo but I was too excited - I had to update on here straight away...

We just got the Datsun seats back tonight and they look really awesome. Thank-you so much to Westgate Auto Upholstery for the amazing job they have done restoring the Z seats back to their original glory!
